Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo Denies Praying for Tinubu’s 2027 Reelection Following VeryDarkMan Claims
Plateau cleric Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has rejected allegations made by social media activist VeryDarkMan claiming he endorsed President Bola Tinubu during a visit to Israel.
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) for Barkin Ladi Local Government Area in Plateau State, has firmly denied allegations that he prayed for or endorsed President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, according to a report by Daily Post Nigeria.
The denial follows claims made by prominent social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). In a widely circulated video, the activist accused the cleric of reversing his previously critical stance against the current administration and allegedly converting an international trip into a political prayer platform.
The Activist’s Accusations
According to the Daily Post report, Dachomo recently traveled to Israel, where he had been expected to campaign against the persistent violence and killings affecting Christian communities in Plateau State and the broader Middle Belt region. The activist claimed that Dachomo was expected to address international leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, regarding these security concerns.
However, VDM alleged that the cleric instead transformed the trip into prayer sessions supporting President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election. The activist further claimed that Dachomo had been compromised, suggesting without presenting public evidence that the presidency had arranged the visit to Israel. VDM also highlighted what he characterized as a sharp contradiction, noting the cleric’s past vocal opposition to the APC administration and its Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
Dachomo’s Clarification and Pushback
Responding via his official social media channels, Rev. Dachomo dismissed the allegations as completely unfounded. The cleric stated that he never prayed for Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, or their political party to succeed in the upcoming general election. Instead, he labeled unauthorized efforts to link his name to political branding as wicked.
Dachomo stated that his prayers in Israel were focused on national peace, divine intervention against malicious schemes, and the protection of vulnerable communities. He maintained that rather than praying for electoral success, his prayers specifically targeted election manipulation.
“While Muslim-Muslim ticket supporters are thinking of rigging elections, the only thing I am praying for is that they should fail in their evil deeds,” Dachomo stated, warning political operators against misusing his name.
The clergyman emphasized that his prayers called for divine intervention against any elements seeking to rig future elections or deploy violence, adding that genuine peace in Nigeria requires justice and mutual respect between Christian and Muslim communities.
Looking Ahead
The public exchange highlights the heightened scrutiny facing prominent religious and civil figures in Nigeria as early discourse around the 2027 election cycle begins to take shape. With security and faith remaining delicate subjects in the country’s central belt, statements made by community leaders continue to draw swift and polarized online reactions.
