A 25-year-old Nigerian man, Bosun Osagie, has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison in the UK for hacking a woman’s social media accounts, using her images to create fake profiles and blackmailing her.

According to Merseyside Police, the case was reported in February 2023 after the victim’s Snapchat and X accounts were compromised.

Osagie allegedly used her images to create fake profiles advertising her as a sex worker and also sold the images online.

Osagie, who resides in Bexley, London, was arrested following an investigation and later pleaded guilty to computer hacking and blackmail.

He was sentenced on Monday, October 12, and handed a 10-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.

Detective Sergeant Darren Devonport said Osagie’s actions caused the woman significant distress, as he violated her privacy and attempted to extort money from her.

He commended the victim for reporting the incident and reiterated the police’s commitment to tackling the unlawful possession and distribution of indecent images.
