In a recent press conference held this past Friday, France national team head coach
Zinedine Zidane offered a rare personal comparison, identifying Paris Saint-Germain
forward Désiré Doué as the player who most reminds him of his own playing days.
The comments came as Zidane finalized his squad selections for the upcoming Nations
League fixtures.

## A Shared Professional Ethos

Zidane’s assessment of the young forward focused less on specific technical maneuvers
and more on the psychological characteristics that defined his own legendary career.
According to the Daily Post Nigeria, Zidane emphasized that Doué’s temperament is
a primary factor in his development.

“For Désiré, he is incredibly talented, and he is a good listener,” Zidane stated
during the briefing. The coach noted that the 19-year-old possesses an inherent
drive to refine his craft, a trait Zidane claims he shared during his time as a
rising star in international football.

## The Importance of Mentorship

A central theme of Zidane’s remarks was the importance of humility and receptiveness
to feedback. The manager noted that Doué’s willingness to absorb advice from veteran
players and coaching staff is indicative of a player destined for growth.

> “I see myself in him as I was back then, because I also yearned to improve and
> listened to the older players and those around me,” Zidane explained.

This focus on “eagerness to win honors” suggests that Zidane views Doué not just
as a talented athlete, but as a player with the correct professional attitude required
to succeed at the highest levels of the sport.

## Context of the Selection

While Zidane’s praise provides insight into his current squad philosophy, the coach
did not elaborate on specific tactical roles Doué might occupy during the upcoming
Nations League matches. The selection highlights a broader trend of integrating
younger, high-potential talent into the French national setup under Zidane’s leadership.

As of the time of reporting, there is no further information regarding the specific
tactical instructions or long-term development plans for Doué within the national
team structure. However, the public endorsement from a figure of Zidane’s stature
serves as a significant milestone for the young forward’s career.

## Conclusion

Zinedine Zidane’s comparison of Désiré Doué to his younger self underscores a coaching
philosophy that prioritizes character and coachability alongside raw talent. By
highlighting Doué’s ability to listen and his hunger for improvement, Zidane has
signaled that the PSG forward is a key part of his vision for the future of the
French national team.
