Why Seventeen’s New Duo JxJ Is Turning to Pinterest Ahead of Debut
Seventeen vocalists Jeonghan and Joshua are teaming up as JxJ to release 'DREAMSCAPE,' pairing their musical launch with an aesthetic campaign on Pinterest.
Members of the popular K-pop boy band Seventeen are testing a new visual rollout ahead of their official duo project. Vocalists Jeonghan and Joshua are set to make their collaborative debut under the name JxJ on October 19 with the release of their album DREAMSCAPE, Business Insider reported.
Alongside standard promotional avenues, the pair has introduced a joint visual diary on Pinterest to tease the creative direction of their music. While K-pop acts typically restrict early concept teasers to platforms such as YouTube and Weverse, JxJ’s strategy invites fans to explore digital mood boards reflecting the release’s themes.
A Platform Shift for Visual Storytelling
In a written interview with Business Insider, Jeonghan and Joshua explained that the dedicated Pinterest account serves as a space to communicate the album’s concept directly to listeners. The artists curated behind-the-scenes moments, photoshoot previews, and candid images centered around the motif of dreams, encouraging followers to collect imagery and assemble their own interpretations.
The initiative highlights how modern fandom extends beyond streaming music to include fashion, styling, and creative curation. Ayumi Nakajima, Pinterest’s head of content partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region, told Business Insider that interest in Korean pop culture has surged on the platform. Searches for “K-beauty” climbed 114% globally year-over-year, while searches for “K-pop style” rose 19%. In Japan, queries for fan art and trading card decoration saw significant gains of 368% and 77%, respectively.
Nakajima noted that early engagement through visual references can help shape fan-led commerce weeks before prospective concert dates or product launches, influencing wardrobe choices and merchandise purchases.
Musical Direction and Duo Chemistry
Beyond its aesthetic rollout, the upcoming seven-track album marks a sonic departure for the two singers. According to Business Insider, the duo explored genres such as house, synthpop, and dance rock for their collaborative tracks. The project also features individual solo work: Joshua’s punk rock song “Not Personal” and Jeonghan’s track “Coloring.”
The duo shared that preparing for the release involved joint travel and extensive discussions to highlight their shared chemistry. They noted that their dynamic as a pair differs naturally from the energy of Seventeen’s full 13-member ensemble.
The sub-unit launch builds on substantial commercial momentum. Seventeen’s 2023 release FML set a record for first-day K-pop sales with over 6.4 million copies, and their 2025–2026 stadium tour drew nearly one million attendees. Following the debut of DREAMSCAPE at 6 p.m. Korea time on October 19, JxJ is scheduled to launch a concert tour across six cities in Asia.
