The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Zamfara North Senatorial
District has concluded in a state of confusion, with two different returning officers
declaring opposing winners. This development follows a legal process that nullified
a previous primary election, as reported by _Channels Television_.

## Context of the Primary Election

The recent primary was necessitated by a Court of Appeal ruling in Sokoto, which
upheld a previous Zamfara State High Court judgment. The legal challenge was initiated
by Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, leading to the nullification of the party’s earlier
candidate selection process for the senatorial seat.

## Conflicting Declarations

According to _Channels Television_, the process in Gusau on Monday resulted in two
distinct sets of results:

 * **The First Declaration:** Dr. Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu, serving as the Chairman
of the APC Senatorial Primary Election Committee, declared Senator Sahabi Alhaji
Ya’u Kaura the winner. Dr. Aliyu reported that Senator Ya’u secured 49,176 votes,
while Tijjani Yahaya received 9,628 votes and Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi received
   2,602 votes.
 * **The Second Declaration:** In a parallel announcement, a different returning
officer, Abdullahi Aliyu, declared Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura the winner. These
figures indicated that Tijjani Yahaya Kaura received 16,758 votes, while Sahabi
Alhaji Ya’u polled 1,465 votes and Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi received 1,447 votes.

The primary election was reportedly marred by incidents of violence, contributing
to the chaotic nature of the result announcements.

## Current Status

As of the time of reporting, the APC has not officially resolved the discrepancy
between the two declarations. The conflicting results have created significant uncertainty
regarding who will represent the party in the upcoming Zamfara North Senatorial
District election. Information regarding how the party leadership intends to reconcile
these parallel results or address the allegations of violence remains unavailable.

## Conclusion

The situation in Zamfara North highlights the complexities of internal party selection
processes when legal challenges and administrative disputes intersect. With two
candidates claiming the party’s nomination based on different sets of figures, the
APC faces a critical hurdle in finalizing its candidate for the district before
the general election cycle progresses.

  TL;DR (AI Generated)

The APC primary election for the Zamfara North Senatorial District ended in confusion
after two different returning officers declared opposing winners following a court-
ordered rerun.

Dr.

Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu declared Senator Sahabi Alhaji Ya’u Kaura the winner, while
a parallel announcement by Abdullahi Aliyu named Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura as
the victor.

This unprecedented discrepancy, compounded by reports of violence and an official
silence from party leadership, has created significant uncertainty regarding the
party's true candidate.
