The Nigerian women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, has officially received
a $100,000 reward from President Bola Tinubu. According to reports from _Channels
Television_, the disbursement follows the team’s historic performance at the 2025
Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they secured their 10th continental
championship.

## Details of the Disbursement

The National Sports Commission confirmed that the players have begun receiving payments
totaling approximately ₦140 million. This figure represents the naira equivalent
of the $100,000 reward promised by the President shortly after the tournament concluded
in July 2025. The financial incentive was pledged as a gesture of recognition for
the team’s comeback victory against tournament hosts, Morocco.

## A Historic Comeback

The 2025 WAFCON final was marked by a dramatic turnaround for the Super Falcons.
Trailing 2-0 during the first half, the team executed a significant second-half
recovery to defeat the host nation. This victory further solidified Nigeria’s position
as the most successful women’s football team in Africa. Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade
publicly expressed appreciation for the fulfillment of the promise, noting that
the gesture serves as meaningful recognition of the squad’s efforts on the continental
stage.

## Broader Context of Presidential Sports Incentives

The payment to the Super Falcons is part of a broader trend of financial rewards
for national teams under President Tinubu’s administration. The National Sports
Commission highlighted that this initiative is intended to foster a culture of accountability
and national pride while motivating athletes to pursue excellence in international
competitions.

This is not the first instance of such a reward during the current administration.
The President previously fulfilled a similar $100,000 pledge to the D’Tigress, the
national women’s basketball team, following their fifth consecutive victory at the
2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket. Government officials have stated that these consistent
financial commitments are designed to strengthen the confidence of both athletes
and sports administrators across the country.

## Conclusion

The fulfillment of the $100,000 pledge marks the conclusion of the reward process
for the Super Falcons’ 2025 WAFCON success. As the team continues to represent Nigeria
in international football, the focus remains on how such government-led incentive
programs influence the long-term development and morale of national sports teams.

  TL;DR (AI Generated)

President Bola Tinubu has officially disbursed a $100,000 reward to the Super Falcons
following their historic tenth WAFCON title.

The players have started receiving their respective naira equivalents through the
National Sports Commission as a token of appreciation for their dramatic comeback
victory against Morocco.

This financial incentive aligns with the administration's ongoing efforts to motivate
national athletes and foster excellence in international sports competitions.
