As the football world turns its attention toward the annual Ballon d’Or ceremony,
former Brazil international Sonny Anderson has offered his personal forecast for
the 2026 podium. Speaking to _Téléfoot_, the former striker highlighted three players
who he believes have distinguished themselves through exceptional individual performances
over the past season.

## The Case for Kylian Mbappé

Anderson identified Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé as his primary choice for
the award. The former Brazil striker pointed to the French captain’s prolific scoring
record as the defining factor for his selection. According to the report from _Daily
Post Nigeria_, Mbappé’s candidacy is bolstered by his performance at the 2026 FIFA
World Cup, where he secured the Golden Boot. Furthermore, the forward finished the
previous campaign as the top scorer in both the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga,
cementing his status as a leading figure in European football.

## Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane Round Out the Podium

Beyond his top pick, Anderson outlined the remainder of his predicted top three.
He placed Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal in the second position. Anderson expressed admiration
for the young talent’s playing style, noting that Yamal’s ability to dribble and
distribute the ball effectively makes him a standout player who captures the imagination
of spectators.

Harry Kane, currently at Bayern Munich, was selected for the third position. Anderson
justified this choice by citing the striker’s consistent goal-scoring output for
both his club and the England national team. Regarding Kane, Anderson stated, “because
of what he’s done with Bayern, scoring so many goals, and with England, he deserves
to be on the podium.”

## Contextualizing the Predictions

While Sonny Anderson’s analysis provides a perspective on the current form of these
athletes, it is important to note that these rankings represent his personal opinion
rather than official voting results. The Ballon d’Or is determined by a panel of
international journalists and coaches based on a specific set of criteria, including
individual performance, team achievements, and fair play. As of the time of reporting,
the official winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or has not been confirmed.

### Summary of Anderson’s Predicted Top Three:

 * **1st Place:** Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid)
 * **2nd Place:** Lamine Yamal (Barcelona)
 * **3rd Place:** Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)

The football community continues to debate the merits of various candidates as the
official announcement approaches. While Anderson’s assessment focuses heavily on
goal-scoring statistics and creative influence, the final outcome will depend on
the collective consensus of the voting body.
