## A Shift in Focus for Rivers United

As the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season progresses, Rivers United
has made it clear that their primary objective is consistent point accumulation
rather than the preservation of their unbeaten record. This strategic stance was
articulated by assistant coach Yemi Olanrewaju following the team’s most recent
outing.

The club, which has been performing strongly in the current campaign, is looking
to maintain its momentum by focusing on the immediate task of winning matches. Olanrewaju’s
comments come at a time when the team’s performance is under the spotlight, following
a challenging fixture that tested their resolve.

## Reflecting on the Barau FC Encounter

The assistant coach’s remarks followed a tense Matchday 9 fixture against Barau
FC, which ended in a goalless stalemate. The match proved to be a difficult test
for Rivers United, as both sides struggled to break the deadlock throughout the
encounter. Despite the frustration of not securing all three points, the coaching
staff appears satisfied with the team’s ability to remain competitive in a tough
environment.

Olanrewaju noted that while the unbeaten run is a reflection of the team’s hard
work, it is not the central focus of their preparation. Instead, the technical crew
is emphasizing the importance of accumulating points to ensure a strong position
in the league standings as the season unfolds.

## Strategic Outlook for the NPFL Season

The NPFL season is known for its high level of intensity and the difficulty of securing
results away from home. For Rivers United, the strategy remains clear: take each
game as it comes and prioritize the acquisition of points over individual milestones
or records. This pragmatic approach is intended to keep the players grounded and
focused on the long-term goal of league success.

By downplaying the significance of the unbeaten streak, the coaching staff aims
to alleviate potential pressure on the squad. This allows the players to focus on
their tactical execution and match-day responsibilities without the distraction
of maintaining a perfect record. As the competition intensifies, Rivers United continues
to demonstrate its resilience, with Olanrewaju’s comments serving as a reminder
that in the NPFL, consistency in results is the ultimate currency for success.

As the team moves forward into the next set of fixtures, fans and analysts alike
will be watching to see if this focus on points-gathering will translate into a
sustained challenge for the top spots in the league table. For now, the message
from the Rivers United camp is one of determination and tactical discipline, as
they look to build on their current standing in the league.
