Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set for a prolonged period on
the sidelines after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, according
to a club announcement reported by Channels Television. The severe injury occurred
during PSG’s recent UEFA Champions League group stage encounter against FC Barcelona.

## Details of the Injury

The 25-year-old Georgian international went down on the pitch without any obvious
contact shortly before the one-hour mark at the Parc des Princes. PSG confirmed
in an official statement that the forward sustained an ACL tear and is scheduled
to undergo surgical repair in the coming days.

Kvaratskhelia has been an instrumental contributor for the French side, playing
a central role in their recent back-to-back Champions League titles. He is also
among the nominees for the upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony. While knee ligament injuries
typically require months of recovery and rehabilitation, the club has not yet detailed
a specific timeline for his return beyond indicating upcoming surgery.

## Mounting Absences for the Champions

The setback arrives alongside further medical concerns for the reigning European
champions. PSG also announced that forward Ousmane Dembele and central defender
Marquinhos will be out of action for several weeks. Both players sustained thigh
problems, stretching the squad’s depth at a critical juncture in the European and
domestic campaign.

Dembele, the reigning Ballon d’Or holder, and defensive pillar Marquinhos join Kvaratskhelia
on an expanding casualty list that leaves manager options reduced across both offensive
and defensive lines.

## Match Context and European Run

The physical toll came amid a hard-fought 4-2 victory against Barcelona. The game
had remained deadlocked at 2-2 until the 81st minute, when midfielder Vitinha controlled
the ball with his chest and struck from distance to hand PSG the advantage. Midfielder
Fabian Ruiz later added a final goal to confirm the win.

The result marked three consecutive wins from PSG’s first three fixtures in this
season’s Champions League phase as the Parisian side aims to secure the European
crown for a third successive year. However, losing Kvaratskhelia indefinitely, alongside
multi-week layoffs for two other key senior players, presents an early test to their
ambitions.

  TL;DR (AI Generated)

Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered a torn ACL in his right
knee during a Champions League match against FC Barcelona and will undergo surgery.

The severe injury leaves the key player sidelined indefinitely, compounding the
club's issues as Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos are also facing multi-week absences
due to thigh problems.

Despite securing a 4-2 victory to maintain a perfect start in their European campaign,
the mounting injuries present a significant challenge to the defending champions.
