As the political landscape in Nigeria begins to shift toward the 2027 general elections,
spiritual leaders are increasingly weighing in on the strategies of major political
figures. Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church,
has issued a public advisory to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its presidential
candidate, Atiku Abubakar, urging them to reconsider their scheduled campaign kickoff
date.

## The Nature of the Warning

In a video statement released via his official Facebook page on Thursday, October
30, 2026, Primate Ayodele cautioned the party against commencing its campaign activities
on October 31, 2026. The cleric characterized his intervention as a spiritual warning,
suggesting that the chosen date is unfavorable for the party’s broader political
ambitions.

According to the Primate, proceeding with the October 31 launch could result in
significant setbacks for the party. He explicitly stated,

> “Change the date of your campaign commencement from 31 October to any date in
> November. I am seeing a setback if you start on October 31. The date is not good.
> Move it to any date in November, then you can have a smooth sail.”

## Context of Political Prophecy

Primate Ayodele is a well-known figure in Nigerian public discourse, frequently
releasing prophecies regarding the country’s political trajectory. His predictions
often elicit widespread debate on social media platforms, reflecting the intersection
of traditional religious influence and modern electoral politics in Nigeria.

In his latest address, the cleric emphasized that his counsel is not motivated by
personal interest or political alignment. Instead, he framed his advice as a form
of spiritual guidance intended to assist the party in navigating the challenges
of the upcoming election cycle. He urged the leadership of the ADC and Atiku Abubakar
to treat the matter with seriousness, suggesting that ignoring the warning could
lead to avoidable complications.

## Current Status of the Campaign

As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from the African
Democratic Congress or Atiku Abubakar regarding the Primate’s warning. It remains
unclear whether the party intends to adhere to its original schedule or if the spiritual
counsel will prompt a rescheduling of their campaign launch.

The influence of such prophecies on formal political strategy remains a subject
of debate among political analysts. While some view these interventions as a reflection
of the deep-seated cultural importance of spirituality in Nigerian governance, others
maintain that political campaigns are driven primarily by logistical, financial,
and strategic considerations. Whether the ADC chooses to adjust its timeline in
response to this public warning remains to be seen.

## Conclusion

The intersection of spiritual guidance and political strategy continues to be a
notable feature of the Nigerian electoral process. As the 2027 election cycle approaches,
the public remains attentive to how political actors respond to such high-profile
warnings. For now, the ADC’s next steps regarding their campaign launch will be
closely watched by observers to see if the party opts for a change in schedule.
