President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to begin a two-state tour on Friday, visiting
Akwa Ibom and Rivers states. According to a statement released by Bayo Onanuga,
the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the trip is designed
to facilitate the inauguration of several state-executed infrastructure projects
and provide a platform for All Progressives Congress (APC) political rallies.

## Akwa Ibom Infrastructure Inaugurations

The President’s first stop is Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State. There, he is
expected to commission a series of projects completed under the administration of
Governor Umo Eno. To facilitate the President’s visit, Governor Eno has declared
Friday a work-free day for the state’s residents.

The projects slated for inauguration include:

 * **Aviation Infrastructure:** The new International Terminal Building, the International
Airport Hospital, and the Ibom Aviation Village at the Victor Attah International
   Airport.
 * **Road Networks:** The Airport-Okopedi Road, which serves communities in Nsit
Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas, and Ring Road 3, which connects Idoro
Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.
 * **State Facilities:** The AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre,
   and the ARISE Palm Resort.

## Political Engagements in Rivers State

Following his engagements in Akwa Ibom, President Tinubu is scheduled to travel
to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday. The primary focus of this leg of the
trip is an APC political rally. According to the statement from the presidency,
this event marks the President’s third personal appearance at a campaign rally since
the official flag-off of his re-election campaign in Kaduna last month.

The administration stated that these visits are intended to foster engagement with
political stakeholders, party members, and supporters. The stated goals for the
tour include promoting national unity, political stability, and a shared commitment
to national progress.

## Context of Presidential Campaign Appearances

The President’s upcoming appearances follow earlier statements regarding his campaign
strategy. During the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja
on October 14, President Tinubu noted that he would not be attending campaign events
in every state personally. He cited his primary responsibilities as head of government,
the necessity of managing the country’s financial obligations, and the importance
of focusing on investor relations as reasons for his limited physical presence at
campaign stops.

Prior to this two-state visit, the President’s only other personal appearance at
a campaign event occurred on October 24 in Kaduna. Information regarding the specific
duration of his stay in each state or any additional private meetings beyond those
mentioned in the official statement was not made available.

## Conclusion

President Tinubu’s visit to Akwa Ibom and Rivers represents a strategic mix of governance
and political activity. By inaugurating state-led projects while simultaneously
participating in APC rallies, the President continues his selective approach to
campaign appearances, balancing his executive duties with his role in the party’s
re-election efforts.
