President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to view the nation’s ethnic, religious,
and cultural diversity as a strategic asset for national development. Speaking during
a dinner hosted for his delegation in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, the President
expressed his vision for a Nigeria where pluralism fosters prosperity rather than
division.

## A Focus on National Cohesion

According to a statement released by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the
event served as a platform for reflection on the country’s trajectory. President
Tinubu articulated a prayer that Nigeria’s inherent diversity be converted into
a source of sustainable development and unity. He emphasized that the nation’s abundant
natural resources, combined with the creativity and enterprise of its citizens,
provide a robust foundation for building an inclusive and prosperous state.

The President urged citizens to prioritize mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence,
noting that collective determination is essential to overcoming the country’s current
challenges. He also sought divine guidance for the nation’s leadership, asking for
the wisdom and courage necessary to improve living conditions for all Nigerians.

## Support from Political and Business Leaders

The dinner was attended by a high-profile delegation, including several state governors
and key government officials. Among those present were Governors Mai Mala Buni (
Yobe), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Mohammed Namadi (Jigawa), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto), and Babagana
Umara Zulum (Borno). Federal officials in attendance included National Security
Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Attorney-General of the
Federation Lateef Fagbemi.

Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman
AbdulRazaq, commended the President’s commitment to national unity. During the event,
he offered prayers for the President’s leadership, specifically asking for the strength
and wisdom required to navigate complex national decisions.

The business community also signaled its continued support for the administration.
Abdulsamad Rabiu, Chairman of the BUA Group, noted that the gathering provided an
opportunity to discuss the country’s future. “We will continue to support His Excellency
in whatever capacity we can,” Rabiu stated, highlighting the President’s dedication
to the nation’s progress.

## Looking Toward the Future

While the event focused on spiritual reflection and diplomatic engagement, the underlying
message remained centered on the necessity of a unified national front. By bringing
together leaders from both the public and private sectors, the President sought
to reinforce a shared commitment to the national interest. As of the time of reporting,
specific policy outcomes from the discussions in Mecca were not disclosed, with
the focus remaining on the symbolic and morale-boosting nature of the delegation’s
engagement.

The gathering concluded with participants reaffirming their dedication to supporting
the administration’s efforts to foster peace and development across the country.
