The Ondo State Police Command has officially opened an investigation into the death
of a 46-year-old businessman, whose body was discovered in his office in Igba Town,
near Ondo City, on Thursday, October 29, 2026. The incident has drawn public attention
following reports that the deceased had shared a video online detailing personal
and professional struggles prior to his passing.

## Police Response and Preliminary Findings

According to an official statement provided by the Public Relations Officer of the
Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, officers from the Bolorunduro Division
were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. During their
initial sweep of the area, investigators located two empty containers in a nearby
bush, which police suspect held a poisonous insecticide.

DSP Jimoh confirmed that the deceased’s remains have been transported to a state
hospital morgue. The body is currently being held for preservation and further medical
examination. Initial observations by responding officers indicated no visible signs
of violence or immediate evidence of foul play on the victim’s body.

## Contextualizing the Incident

The investigation follows the circulation of a video on social media platforms,
which police have acknowledged as part of their inquiry. In the footage, the businessman
reportedly expressed significant frustration regarding the declining state of his
business. While the video has been widely discussed, the police have emphasized
that they are conducting a formal probe to verify the circumstances surrounding
the death.

The Commissioner of Police for Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a comprehensive
investigation into the matter. The objective of this directive is to conclusively
establish the cause of death and determine the sequence of events leading up to
the afternoon of October 29.

### Ongoing Investigation

As of the latest update from the Ondo State Police Command, the investigation remains
active. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the contents
of the video or the specific timeline of events leading to the discovery of the
body at 3 p.m. on Thursday. The police continue to gather evidence to ensure a thorough
review of the case.
