Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, has seen a standout performance
from forward Oluwakemi Adegbuyi during the ongoing 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World
Cup. As the tournament progresses in Morocco, the 16-year-old striker has emerged
as a key offensive threat, signaling her intent to maintain her scoring momentum
in upcoming matches.

## A Growing Impact on the Pitch

According to reports from _Daily Post Nigeria_, Adegbuyi has solidified her role
in the squad through consistent contributions in the group stages. Her scoring account
opened during Nigeria’s second group match against Puerto Rico, a game that ended
in a 2-0 victory for the Flamingos. This performance provided a necessary boost
for the team as they navigated the competitive group environment.

The momentum continued into a high-stakes encounter against the defending champions,
North Korea. In a match held in Rabat, Adegbuyi played a pivotal role in securing
a 3-1 win for Nigeria. Her performance was marked not only by her successful strike
but also by her active presence in the final third, which kept the North Korean
defense under pressure throughout the evening.

## Overcoming Challenges

Despite her success, the path to the scoresheet has not been without obstacles.
During the match against North Korea, Adegbuyi found the back of the net a second
time; however, the goal was disallowed by officials due to a foul committed during
the build-up play. Such moments highlight the intensity of the competition and the
scrutiny under which these young athletes perform on the global stage.

Reflecting on the victory against the defending champions, Adegbuyi emphasized the
collective effort of the squad. She noted that the team entered the match with a
clear objective to secure the three points, a goal they successfully achieved through
disciplined play.

## Looking Ahead

With the tournament still underway, Adegbuyi has publicly stated her ambition to
add to her tally. “I hope to score more goals,” she remarked following the win in
Rabat. As the Flamingos look toward the next stages of the competition, the forward’s
ability to convert opportunities will be a critical factor for the Nigerian side.

While specific details regarding the team’s upcoming opponents or the full bracket
progression were not provided in the source material, the focus remains on the Flamingos’
