The police returned fire, resulting in the death of one suspect, while the remaining members of the syndicate managed to escape the scene, potentially suffering from gunshot wounds.

Recovered Evidence and Property

Following the exchange, a search of the area and the deceased suspect yielded a substantial collection of items. The police recovered two vehicles: a Nissan Almera and a Toyota Camry. Additionally, authorities seized a locally made pistol and two live cartridges. The list of recovered household items and electronics includes:

  • Two laptops (HP and Dell)
  • A PlayStation console

  • Various clothing items and personal electronics

Personal effects found on the deceased suspect included a Tecno mobile phone, three passport photographs, an MTN SIM pack, two National Identification Number (NIN) cards, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Ongoing Investigation and Police Response

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that a manhunt has been launched to locate the surviving members of the gang. Investigations are currently underway to verify the ownership of the recovered vehicles and to determine if the suspects are linked to other criminal activities in the region. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the responding officers for their professionalism and courage during the encounter.

The Command has reiterated its commitment to intelligence-led policing and rapid response strategies. Residents are encouraged to maintain vigilance and report any suspicious activities to local authorities to assist in maintaining public safety.
