The landscape of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup has narrowed as tournament
organizers confirmed the semi-final matchups. Nigeria, represented by the Flamingos,
secured their progression to the penultimate stage following a competitive quarter-
final match against Venezuela held in Sale, Morocco.

## A Decisive Victory for the Flamingos

According to reports from the _Daily Post Nigeria_, the Flamingos clinched their
semi-final berth with a 1-0 win over Venezuela on Sunday. The match remained deadlocked
for the majority of play until a late penalty kick by Azeezat Oduntan provided the
decisive goal. This victory marks a significant milestone for the team, which is
currently under the leadership of head coach Akeem Busari.

This achievement represents only the second time in history that Nigeria has reached
the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The team’s previous appearance
at this stage occurred in 2022, where they successfully secured a bronze medal finish.
The current squad will now look to improve upon that historical performance as they
enter the final four.

## The Road Ahead: Semi-Final Pairings

The path to the championship trophy remains challenging for the remaining contenders.
The upcoming semi-final fixtures are as follows:

 * **Nigeria vs. Brazil:** The Flamingos are scheduled to face Brazil for a spot
in the final match. Brazil earned their place in the semi-finals after a comeback
performance against China, overcoming an initial deficit to win 2-1.
 * **North Korea vs. Japan:** The second semi-final bracket features an all-Asian
clash between North Korea and Japan, both of whom successfully navigated their
respective paths through the knockout stages.

## Tournament Context

The 2026 edition of the tournament continues to showcase emerging talent in women’s
football. While the _Daily Post Nigeria_ has confirmed the progression of these
four nations, specific details regarding the exact kickoff times and venue logistics
for the semi-final matches were not provided in the source material. As the tournament
reaches its climax, the focus shifts to whether Nigeria can replicate or exceed
their 2022 podium finish.

The Flamingos’ ability to maintain defensive discipline and capitalize on set-piece
opportunities, as demonstrated in their victory over Venezuela, will be tested as
they prepare to face a Brazilian side that has shown resilience in high-pressure
scenarios.

## Conclusion

As the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup enters its final stages, the semi-finalists
have been solidified. Nigeria’s Flamingos have demonstrated significant growth by
reaching the final four, setting the stage for a high-stakes encounter against Brazil.
With the other bracket featuring North Korea and Japan, the tournament is poised
for a competitive conclusion to determine the next world champion.
