## A Challenging Road to Dakar

The path to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) has proven difficult for Nigerian
table tennis prospects. According to a report from _Premium Times Nigeria_, Nigerian
players Kuti and Ojo have been eliminated from the ongoing qualification tournament,
ending their immediate hopes of securing a spot at the upcoming Youth Olympics.

## The State of African Competition

The qualification event has been highly competitive, with a significant thinning
of the field as the tournament progresses. Out of the 15 African table tennis players
who initially entered the competition, only two athletes remain in contention for
the remaining qualifying slots:

 * **Tania Morice** (Algeria)
 * **Abdelmalk Elsayed** (Egypt)

The elimination of the Nigerian duo reflects the broader difficulty faced by many
regional competitors as they vie for limited spots in the international youth sporting
showcase. The tournament serves as a critical gateway for young athletes aiming
to represent their nations on the global stage in Dakar.

## Looking Ahead

As the event moves into its final stages, the focus shifts to the remaining two
African hopefuls. Information regarding the specific match scores or the exact stage
at which Kuti and Ojo were eliminated was not provided in the source report. Similarly,
details regarding future qualification opportunities for the Nigerian team remain
unavailable at this time.

### Conclusion

The exit of Kuti and Ojo marks a setback for Nigeria’s table tennis contingent in
the lead-up to the 2026 Youth Olympic Games. With only two African players left
in the running, the pressure intensifies for the remaining competitors to secure
their places in the tournament. The sporting community will be watching closely
to see if Algeria and Egypt can successfully navigate the final rounds of this high-
stakes qualifying event.

  TL;DR (AI Generated)

Nigerian table tennis prospects Kuti and Ojo have been eliminated from the Dakar
2026 Youth Olympic Games qualification tournament.

This exit leaves only two African athletes, Tania Morice from Algeria and Abdelmalk
Elsayed from Egypt, still in contention for the remaining qualifying slots.

The setback highlights the intense competition for limited spots as the sporting
community awaits the final rounds of the event.
