Security forces operating under the Joint Task Force North West, known as Operation
FANSAN YAMMA, have reported a series of tactical successes aimed at dismantling
terrorist networks in Nigeria’s North West region. According to an official statement
released by the military, these efforts include the apprehension of a suspected
terrorist in Kaduna State and coordinated ground and air strikes against militant
strongholds in Zamfara State.

## Arrest in Kagarko

On November 5, 2026, troops from Sector One, working in conjunction with the Department
of State Services (DSS), successfully detained a suspected terrorist in Kagarko,
Kaduna State. The arrest took place at a local hospital where the individual had
reportedly sought medical attention for a gunshot wound.

Captain Tamuno Sinivie, the Acting Media Information Officer for the Joint Task
Force, stated that preliminary investigations suggest the suspect sustained the
injury during a clash with a rival criminal faction. Authorities have linked the
individual to a string of violent activities, including community attacks, kidnapping,
and cattle rustling. The suspect is currently being held for further investigation
and eventual prosecution.

## Clearance Operations in Zamfara

Simultaneously, military efforts have expanded in Zamfara State, where troops are
focusing on neutralizing terrorist hideouts. Clearance operations were conducted
in the Maradun Local Government Area, specifically targeting the villages of Aljummu
Hausa, Aljummu Fulani, and Tunga Magaji. The military reports that these missions
have successfully cleared several militant camps, aiming to restrict the mobility
of criminal elements and stabilize the affected communities.

### Air Interdiction Efforts

The campaign also involved the Nigerian Air Force, which executed air interdiction
missions on November 5. These strikes targeted locations in the Babban Doka and
Kuyumbana Forest areas of Maru Local Government Area. According to Captain Sinivie,
the air strikes were prompted by intelligence indicating that terrorists associated
with the wanted kingpin Dogo Gide were gathering in the region to coordinate future
criminal operations.

## Strategic Outlook

The Joint Task Force has maintained that its forces continue to exercise dominance
over the operational zones. Military leadership has reiterated its commitment to
sustained pressure on terrorist groups and other criminal entities operating within
the North West theater.

While the military has reported progress in these recent engagements, it has also
issued a public appeal for cooperation. Officials are urging citizens to provide
timely and credible intelligence to security agencies, emphasizing that community
involvement is a critical component in the broader strategy to safeguard lives and
property in the region. Specific details regarding the long-term impact on regional
security or the current status of the wanted kingpin mentioned remain unavailable
at this time.

## Conclusion

The recent actions by Operation FANSAN YAMMA underscore the ongoing security challenges
in Kaduna and Zamfara states. By combining intelligence-led arrests with aggressive
clearance and air operations, the military continues its efforts to disrupt the
command structures of local criminal organizations. The success of these operations
remains contingent upon both the tactical capabilities of the troops and the continued
support of the local population.
