Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has addressed his performance in the club’s recent
Serie A encounter against Parma, a match that saw the team secure a hard-fought
draw. According to a report from _Daily Post Nigeria_, the result was significant
for the club, as it halted a difficult run of six consecutive league defeats.

## A Turning Point in a Relegation Battle

The match against Parma was characterized as a critical fixture in the ongoing relegation
struggle for Udinese. Under the guidance of manager Kosta Runjaic, the team reportedly
created the majority of scoring opportunities throughout the game. Despite their
offensive efforts, the match remained precarious, ultimately requiring a standout
defensive contribution from Okoye to ensure the team did not leave empty-handed.

## The Penalty Incident

The tension peaked when Parma was awarded a penalty following a handball by Udinese
defender James Abankwah. The situation arose after Okoye struggled to handle an
incoming corner kick. However, the Nigerian international redeemed himself by parrying
a spot-kick attempt from Parma’s Adrian Bernabé.

Reflecting on the save, Okoye described the action as a matter of _“pure instinct.”_
His ability to recover from the earlier handling error proved vital in maintaining
the scoreline and securing a point for his side.

## Looking Ahead

Following the match, Okoye expressed a pragmatic view of the result. While acknowledging
that the team always aims for victories, he emphasized the importance of the single
point earned in this context. _“We always want to win and we need points. Today
we got one, and that’s fine. Now we’re immediately focusing on the next one,”_ Okoye
told the club’s official website.

Okoye also addressed the broader challenges the squad has faced recently, noting
that the team has felt _“unlucky”_ during their recent stretch of losses. He highlighted
the impact of player availability, specifically mentioning the absence of Nicolo
Zaniolo. _“We’ve been missing players like Zaniolo, whose importance we saw today,”_
he added.

### Conclusion

While the draw against Parma does not solve all of Udinese’s current challenges
in Serie A, the performance serves as a morale boost after a prolonged losing streak.
With Okoye’s confidence in his own instincts and the team’s focus shifting toward
their next fixture, the club will look to build upon this defensive stability to
improve their standing in the league table.
