The public fallout between Nigerian music star Davido and social media activist
VeryDarkMan (VDM) has drawn in various associates, with singer Kokopee recently
stepping forward to clarify his position. Following online backlash from critics
who questioned his silence and the validity of his claims regarding communication
with the singer, Kokopee has provided an account of how he became an intermediary
in the high-profile disagreement.

## The Origins of the Involvement

According to Kokopee, his proximity to the dispute was not a result of the initial
stages of the friendship between Davido and VDM. He stated that he was not present
when the two first connected or when the singer initially invited the activist to
Lagos. Instead, his involvement began only after tensions surfaced between the two
parties.

Kokopee explained that VDM reached out to him to air grievances regarding actions
allegedly taken by Davido. In an attempt to mediate, Kokopee suggested that the
activist contact members of the singer’s inner circle, specifically Israel or Ubi.
Simultaneously, Kokopee noted that Davido reached out to him to discuss the unfolding
situation from his perspective.

## Internal Friction and Accusations

The role of a mediator proved difficult for Kokopee. He reported that when he attempted
to explain the reasons behind VDM’s sense of betrayal to Davido, the singer did
not agree with his assessment. This attempt to bridge the gap reportedly led to
friction with VDM as well.

Kokopee revealed that VDM eventually questioned his motives, asking why he was so
invested in the dispute. According to Kokopee, VDM specifically asked if he was
acting out of a desire for personal gain, questioning, “if Davido promised me free
collaboration.”

> I’m only humble, not hungry.

Feeling caught between the two parties, Kokopee stated that he eventually withdrew
from the matter to avoid being perceived as a traitor to VDM. He emphasized that
while he continues to offer private advice to the activist regarding his approach
to the situation, he maintains that he cannot force two adults to resolve their
differences.

## Addressing Public Skepticism

Kokopee also addressed the online criticism he faced from those who doubted that
Davido had contacted him. He maintained that he has not disclosed the specific contents
of his private conversations with the singer, asserting that his relationship with
Davido is such that direct communication is plausible. Addressing his detractors,
he stated, “I’m only humble, not hungry,” and challenged the notion that he is not
of a status that would warrant communication from the artist.

## Conclusion

The situation highlights the complexities of navigating public feuds involving high-
profile figures. As of now, the dispute between Davido and VDM remains a subject
of intense public interest, with associates like Kokopee attempting to distance
themselves from the fallout. It remains unclear if any further reconciliation efforts
will be made, as Kokopee has signaled his intention to remain on the sidelines.
