According to a report by Channels Television, the suspects were apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation on October 11, 2026, as they traveled along the Kurfi–Tsanni Village Road. ## Details of the Interception Police operatives stopped a white J5 vehicle at approximately 12:30 a.m. The vehicle was occupied by four men, including a 25-year-old driver. Upon conducting a thorough search of the transport, officers discovered 70 railway sleepers concealed beneath 17 bags of animal feed. Investigators noted that this method was likely an attempt to evade detection by law enforcement during the transit of the stolen materials. ## Ongoing Investigation and Suspects Preliminary investigations conducted by the police have yielded information regarding the supply chain of the stolen goods. One of the suspects reportedly confessed to receiving the railway materials from an individual based in Bauchi State. This alleged supplier is currently at large, and police are actively working to locate them. Furthermore, authorities stated that the stolen sleepers were being transported for delivery to an unidentified recipient in Katsina. The four suspects are currently being held in police custody. The recovered sleepers, the bags of animal feed, and the J5 vehicle have all been secured as evidence for the ongoing investigation. The police command is currently working to identify the specific site where the railway infrastructure was originally vandalized. ## Commitment to Protecting Infrastructure The Police Public Relations Officer for Katsina State, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, issued a statement on Sunday characterizing the arrests as a notable success in the broader effort to protect critical national infrastructure from criminal activity. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, reiterated the Command’s dedication to securing such assets and ensuring that those responsible for vandalism face legal consequences. In light of this incident, the police have issued an appeal to the residents of Katsina. Officials are urging the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, which they say is essential for preventing future criminal acts and facilitating the swift apprehension of suspects. ## Conclusion While the recovery of the 70 railway sleepers represents a positive development for local security, the investigation remains active as authorities search for the remaining suspects involved in the supply chain. The incident highlights the persistent challenges facing the protection of Nigeria’s railway infrastructure and the reliance on community cooperation to mitigate these risks. < p class=”vbna-source-note”>**Source:** [Channels Television](https://www.channelstv.com/2026/10/25/police-foil-railway-vandalism-arrest-four-suspects-with-70-stolen-sleepers-in-katsina/) TL;DR (AI Generated) The Katsina State Police Command arrested four suspects and recovered seventy stolen railway sleepers concealed under animal feed during a midnight operation.
