Key contributions from Chase DeLauter and veteran infielder José Ramírez helped propel Cleveland to an early series advantage. ## Cleveland Secures Early Series Advantage According to NBC News, DeLauter and Ramírez paced Cleveland’s offensive attack in the series opener, guiding the club to seven runs and establishing control of the matchup. While specific box score statistics, scoring plays, and individual defensive highlights were not fully detailed in the initial report, the four-run differential gave Cleveland an important opening victory in the best-of-seven ALCS. For Tampa Bay, the Game 1 loss puts immediate pressure on the team to respond quickly on their home turf to avoid falling into an early two-game hole. ## Looking Ahead: Game 2 Pitching Matchup The series continues quickly, with Game 2 scheduled for Tuesday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The starting pitching matchup features a contrast in experience on the mound: * **Cleveland Guardians:** Rookie left-handed pitcher Parker Messick is scheduled to take the ball for Cleveland. * **Tampa Bay Rays:** Right-hander Freddy Peralta is slated to start for the Rays as they aim to level the series. Further lineup configurations, bullpen availability, and tactical adjustments for both dugouts have not yet been announced ahead of the Tuesday night contest. ## Stakes in the ALCS Taking the first game of a League Championship Series provides a tactical advantage, shifting the pressure onto the trailing squad. With the series remaining at Tropicana Field for Game 2, the Rays face a pivotal contest behind Peralta to prevent Cleveland from taking a commanding 2-0 lead before the series shifts venues. Both clubs enter Tuesday with clear objectives as the race for the American League pennant intensifies. **Source:** [NBC News Top Stories](https://www.nbcnews.com/sports/mlb/cleveland-guardians-tampa-bay-rays-alcs-mlb-results-playoffs-rcna603145) TL;DR (AI Generated) The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3 in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, thanks to strong offensive contributions from Chase DeLauter and José Ramírez.
