A tragic road accident in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, has resulted in the
deaths of three individuals. According to reports from Channels Television, the
incident occurred in the early hours of Friday near the Ibrolak Filling Station,
located in the Okolowo area of the city.

## Details of the Collision

The accident involved two vehicles: a passenger bus and a truck. Reports indicate
that the truck, which was reportedly carrying sack bags containing suspected sawdust,
was traveling from the direction of Shao. As the truck driver attempted to make
a U-turn toward the Okolowo axis, it was struck by a passenger bus that was en route
from Lagos toward the northern region of Nigeria. The bus was reportedly transporting
day-old chicks at the time of the collision.

## Fire and Emergency Response

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the force of the impact triggered a fire that quickly
engulfed both vehicles. The intensity of the blaze left the three victims burnt
beyond recognition. Officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived
at the scene early Friday morning to manage the aftermath and evacuate the remains
of those who perished in the crash.

## Official Confirmation

The Kwara State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Kabiru Babatunde Kazeem, confirmed
the occurrence of the accident when contacted by the media on Friday. While the
FRSC has acknowledged the incident, specific details regarding the identities of
the victims or the exact cause of the maneuver that led to the collision have not
been publicly released at this time.

### Safety Considerations

Road safety remains a significant concern on major transit routes in Nigeria, particularly
those connecting southern commercial hubs like Lagos to the northern states. The
Okolowo axis in Ilorin is a known transit point for heavy-duty vehicles and interstate
passenger transport. Authorities frequently emphasize the importance of caution
during U-turns and the necessity of adhering to speed limits to prevent high-impact
collisions, especially during low-visibility hours in the early morning.

As of now, there is no further information available regarding potential survivors
or the status of the drivers involved in the crash. The investigation into the circumstances
surrounding the collision is expected to continue as authorities process the scene.
