The family of veteran Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu has publicly requested
that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) remove social media posts regarding the actor’s
death. Chiamaka, the daughter of the late performer, issued the plea shortly after
news of her father’s passing began to circulate online.

## A Request for Privacy and Autonomy

According to reports from _Daily Post Nigeria_, Diewait Ikpechukwu passed away on
Thursday following a battle with an undisclosed illness. Shortly after the AGN shared
a mourning post on its official platform, Chiamaka released a video message expressing
her distress and requesting that the organization take down the content.

In the video, she stated, **“Please take down the post. Let me be the one to announce
my papa’s death.”** Her request highlights a growing tension between the desire
for family privacy during bereavement and the industry’s standard practice of issuing
public tributes to deceased members.

## Frustrations with Industry Recognition

Beyond the immediate request to remove the posts, Chiamaka voiced broader frustrations
regarding how the film industry interacts with its veteran members. She questioned
the timing of the recognition shown by the guild, suggesting that such displays
of affection should occur while actors are still alive rather than exclusively after
their passing.

She further requested that individuals refrain from contacting her during this period,
stating, _“Nobody should call me, nobody should post my daddy’s poster.”_ She emphasized
the emotional toll of the situation, noting that she was still wearing her father’s
clothing at the time the video was recorded.

## The Role of Professional Guilds in Bereavement

While the AGN has not issued a formal response to the request as of the time of
reporting, the incident underscores the complexities of managing public announcements
for high-profile figures. Professional guilds often act as the primary source of
information for fans and the media following the death of a member, but this case
illustrates the importance of coordinating with immediate family members to ensure
their wishes are respected.

At this time, specific details regarding the actor’s illness or funeral arrangements
have not been made public by the family. The situation remains a private matter
for the Ikpechukwu family as they navigate their loss.

## Conclusion

The request from Chiamaka serves as a reminder of the personal grief that often
accompanies public mourning. As the family processes the loss of the 71-year-old
Nollywood legend, the focus remains on their request for space and the opportunity
to share their own tribute in their own time.
