The Italian tactician, who succeeded Pep Guardiola as manager during the summer, became the first head coach in Premier League history to win each of his first seven games in charge. ## A Flawless Opening Run Saturday’s result at the Etihad Stadium preserved Manchester City’s unblemished record in the league this season. With seven victories from their opening seven fixtures, Maresca’s squad sits alone at the summit of the Premier League table with 21 points, having conceded no draws and no defeats throughout the opening months of the domestic campaign. Taking over from Guardiola brought intense scrutiny, but Maresca has navigated the transition without dropping a single domestic point so far. Daily Post Nigeria noted that the Italian has remained undefeated across all domestic competition since arriving ahead of the current season. ## Haaland and Foden Secure the Milestone The record-setting performance required City to navigate a closely contested match against Ipswich Town. According to the report, striker Erling Haaland was instrumental in securing the historic result, finding the net twice. Midfielder Phil Foden added another goal, providing the necessary firepower to hold off the visitors in a five- goal contest at the Etihad. While Ipswich managed to score two goals against the league leaders, specific details regarding their scorers, match chronology, and in-game tactical adjustments were not provided in the original report. Nonetheless, the final whistle confirmed all three points for City, sealing Maresca’s historic seventh consecutive league triumph. ## Continental Action Up Next With their domestic streak intact, Manchester City will have little time to celebrate the managerial milestone. Per Daily Post Nigeria, Maresca’s side will turn their attention to international competition on Tuesday, when they are scheduled to meet Greek side AEK Athens FC in the UEFA Champions League. Maintaining momentum across both domestic and European competitions will test the squad’s depth in the weeks ahead. However, Maresca’s historic opening run has established an optimal platform for Manchester City as they pursue silverware on multiple fronts. < p class=”vbna-source-note”>**Source:** [Daily Post Nigeria](https://dailypost.ng/2026/10/18/epl-maresca-makes-history-after-manchester-city-beat-ipswich-town/) TL;DR (AI Generated) Enzo Maresca has made Premier League history by becoming the first manager to win his first seven games in charge after guiding Manchester City to a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town. Goals from Erling Haaland, who scored twice, and Phil Foden secured the milestone win at the Etihad Stadium to keep City at the top of the league table with a perfect record.
