De Zerbi Credits Wingers for Tottenham’s Victory Over Chelsea

A Tactical Shift at Stamford Bridge

In a recent Premier League fixture, Tottenham Hotspur secured a significant 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The result, which provided a boost to the North London club’s league standing, was attributed by manager Roberto De Zerbi to the individual performances of his attacking players.

According to the Daily Post, the match was decided by an own goal from Chelsea’s Mike Penders and a late strike from Mathys Tel. While the scoreline reflects the final outcome, De Zerbi emphasized that the tactical influence of his wingers was the primary factor in overcoming the opposition.

The Role of Tel and Kudus

Speaking during his post-match interview, De Zerbi specifically identified Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus as the catalysts for the win. The manager stated that the duo “made the difference” throughout the encounter, noting that their ability to impact the game from wide positions was instrumental in breaking down the Chelsea defense.

“Mathys Tel had a great game. I think the two wingers won the game,” De Zerbi said, explicitly crediting both Tel and Kudus for their contributions to the team’s success on the day.

Impact on the Premier League Table

The victory at Stamford Bridge serves as a notable result for Tottenham, moving the club to 12th position in the Premier League standings. Following this match, the team has accumulated a total of 9 points from their opening eight fixtures of the season.

The club is now looking ahead to their next challenge, with a scheduled Premier League match against Crystal Palace set to take place later this month. Information regarding specific tactical adjustments or injury updates following the Chelsea match was not provided in the source report.

Conclusion

Roberto De Zerbi’s post-match comments underscore the importance of wing play in his current tactical setup at Tottenham. By highlighting the specific contributions of Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus, the manager has signaled the importance of these players in the team’s ongoing efforts to climb the Premier League table. As Tottenham prepares for their upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace, the focus will likely remain on maintaining the momentum gained from this away victory.
