Child nearly swept away by waves as parents film a reel

Video shows the moment an onlooker intervened to save a child from being swept away by waves while her parents were distracted filming a reel. 

The video shows a couple at the beach along with their child. The couple is seen smiling as they filmed the video while their toddler daughter was left unattended in the background. 

The child was lying on her tummy in the sand along the shoreline when incoming ocean waves swept over her, while her parents had their backs turned to her. An onlooker at the beach rushed to the child, picked her up and called the parents’ attention to their child. 

The video has sparked strong reactions from viewers, with many pointing out how tragic things could have turned in just a few seconds.
