Following the sudden demise of Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, fellow minister Bidemi Olaoba shared an emotional tribute reflecting on their final worship gathering in Ibadan.

Nigerian gospel minister Bidemi Olaoba has spoken publicly for the first time following the sudden death of his colleague Olayemi Bolaji, widely recognized by his stage name Toluwanisings. In an emotional tribute shared on his Facebook page, Olaoba reflected on their recent shared stage in Ibadan, Oyo State, expressing deep sorrow over the unexpected loss.

The Final Shared Worship Session

According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria, Toluwanisings made his last public appearance at a worship gathering organized by Olaoba in Ibadan. Shortly after the event, tragic developments unfolded when Bolaji reportedly collapsed in his home the following day and subsequently died. The publication noted that the tragedy occurred amid reports that several hospitals had turned him away when emergency assistance was sought, though full independent medical and administrative details surrounding the rejections were not immediately available.

The sequence of events shocked the Nigerian gospel music community and fans, who had seen the musician actively ministering just hours before the news of his death emerged.

Olaoba Expresses Grief and Regret

Breaking his silence over the weekend, Olaoba conveyed the emotional weight of realizing that the Ibadan gathering would serve as his colleague’s final earthly performance. He wrote that the demise of Toluwanisings had left an “immeasurable void” within their circle and the wider ministry.

Olaoba also voiced personal regrets about how he spent their final moments together, stating that had he recognized the proximity of Bolaji’s death, he would have extended their fellowship. Olaoba wrote: “If only I had known that your last ministration would be your final one before you joined the saints in glory, I would have held you a little longer, embraced you a little tighter, and given you the entire night to praise your God and pour out your heart before Him, just as you loved to do.”

Despite the profound sorrow, Olaoba affirmed that while Toluwanisings’ time on earth had drawn to a close, his spiritual legacy and musical ministry would endure.

Concerns Over Emergency Medical Response

While the tribute focused primarily on faith, brotherhood, and musical fellowship, the circumstances surrounding Bolaji’s passing have also drawn attention to broader systemic concerns. Daily Post Nigeria highlighted reports indicating that the singer had been turned away from multiple medical facilities following his collapse at home. Such accounts have frequently sparked public conversation in Nigeria regarding healthcare access, emergency triage protocols, and the critical obligations of medical institutions when patients arrive in acute distress.

As fellow artistes, congregants, and listeners continue to mourn the untimely passing of Toluwanisings, tributes continue to emphasize the enduring reach of his worship songs and the abrupt conclusion to a promising musical journey.
