Bendel Insurance secured a significant 2-1 victory against Kwara United in Ilorin
this past Sunday, a result that has shifted the team into third place in the Nigeria
Premier Football League (NPFL) standings. Technical adviser Kennedy Boboye attributed
the win to the squad’s adherence to a specific tactical game plan, despite an early
setback.

## A Strategic Comeback

The match saw Kwara United take an early lead through a goal by Stephen Gideon.
However, Bendel Insurance responded with resilience, mounting a comeback that saw
Kayode Oke and Chinedu Nwosu find the back of the net to secure all three points
for the visiting side.

Reflecting on the performance, Boboye noted that while the team suffered a momentary
lapse in concentration that allowed the Harmony Boys to score first, the players
maintained their composure. According to Boboye, the team’s ability to stick to
their pre-match formation was the deciding factor in the contest.

> We have our formation to execute while coming here which paid off, though we lost
> concentration with the first goal we conceded,

Boboye stated in a post-match interview with Sports digital. He emphasized that
the team’s persistence in pressing the opposition was intentional, aimed at forcing
defensive errors that could be exploited on the counter-attack.

## Tactical Execution and League Impact

The victory serves as a critical boost for Bendel Insurance, bringing their total
to 18 points from 10 matches. The tactical shift Boboye described involved a high-
pressure approach designed to disrupt Kwara United’s rhythm. By maintaining this
pressure, the Benin Arsenals were able to equalize before executing a second goal
on the counter-attack, which Boboye identified as the moment that ultimately broke
the opposition’s defensive resolve.

### Looking Ahead

The momentum from this win will be tested quickly as Bendel Insurance prepares for
their next challenge. The team is scheduled to face Rangers in a rescheduled fixture
in Awka this coming Wednesday. This upcoming match represents another opportunity
for the club to solidify their position in the upper echelons of the league table.

As of this report, there has been no official statement from Kwara United regarding
their defensive performance or their plans for upcoming matches following the loss.
Bendel Insurance now looks to carry the tactical discipline displayed in Ilorin
into their midweek encounter.

## Conclusion

Bendel Insurance’s win in Ilorin highlights the effectiveness of Boboye’s tactical
adjustments and the squad’s ability to execute under pressure. By successfully coming
from behind to secure three points, the team has demonstrated both offensive capability
and mental toughness. With a quick turnaround before their next game against Rangers,
the club remains focused on maintaining their upward trajectory in the NPFL standings.
