The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four men following separate allegations of defilement, rape, and sexual exploitation involving three underage girls and a vulnerable adult woman, according to an official statement reported by Daily Post Nigeria.

The incidents were documented across four local government areas—Ningi, Katagum, Shira, and the Bauchi metropolis—between October 8 and October 10, 2026. Command spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib confirmed the arrests in an official release detailing the allegations.

Breakdown of Reported Incidents

According to police reports, the first incident took place in Gadar Maiwa village, situated within Ningi Local Government Area. Authorities arrested a 50-year-old man identified as Musa Ibrahim, locally known as Musa Fawa. A report lodged by the victim’s father on October 9 alleged that the suspect led a 10-year-old girl into a guinea corn farm behind nearby residences. Police reported that the child was taken to General Hospital Ningi, where medical assessments confirmed sexual assault, and stated that the suspect admitted to the act while in custody.

In a second matter arising from Azare in Katagum Local Government Area, police apprehended a 20-year-old suspect named Yakubu Musa. Investigators alleged that he repeatedly brought an 11-year-old girl to an unoccupied classroom at Bakoshi Primary School throughout September and October. The girl received an evaluation at General Hospital Azare, and police indicated the suspect confessed upon arrest.

In Shira Local Government Area, authorities arrested 40-year-old Abdullahi Sule in connection with the alleged defilement of a 12-year-old girl in Dago village. The victim’s father notified the Yana Police Division on October 8. According to investigators, the suspect induced the minor on four separate occasions using small cash sums of N500. Medical care was provided for the child following the report.

A fourth arrest was executed in Bauchi metropolis, involving 55-year-old John Madaki. The victim’s parents filed a complaint on October 10, alleging the suspect lured their 20-year-old daughter—described by police as living with an intellectual disability—offered her N1,000, and sexually assaulted her. She was subsequently escorted to the Police Clinic in Bauchi for an official examination.

Case Escalation and Command Response

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the reported acts, describing them as inhuman and unconscionable. The commissioner directed that all four files be immediately referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed inquiries ahead of formal prosecution.

Reaffirming the command’s zero-tolerance policy regarding sexual and gender-based violence, the commissioner emphasized that crimes against minors and vulnerable individuals would be rigorously pursued. Police officials additionally appealed to families and guardians across the state to exercise vigilance and report suspicious conduct without delay.
