FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has publicly declared that young winger Lamine
Yamal deserves to be awarded the Ballon d’Or, citing the forward’s crucial contributions
to major silverware at both the domestic and international levels.

## Laporta Makes the Case for Yamal

According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria, citing remarks quoted by Barca Universal,
Laporta made his comments during a recent public appearance. The club chief maintained
that it is “only fair” for the Spain international to receive football’s most prestigious
individual award over rival candidates.

> “It’s only fair that he wins it. He’s had a great season and has won some very
> important titles, such as La Liga and the World Cup. He deserves to win the Ballon
> d’Or,” Laporta stated.

Laporta underscored that Yamal, now 19, demonstrated the maturity and high-level
consistency necessary to claim the sport’s ultimate individual prize, pointing specifically
to his role in securing key trophies over the past year.

## Silverware and Stature on the Global Stage

The endorsement from Barcelona’s leadership highlights the rapid ascent of Yamal,
who established himself as a central figure for both his club and the Spanish national
squad. In his arguments, Laporta pointed directly to major team accomplishments,
most notably league success in Spain and victory on the global stage, as the foundation
for Yamal’s candidacy.

For voters and commentators assessing Ballon d’Or nominees, collective trophies
often serve as a primary tiebreaker alongside individual statistics such as goals,
assists, and decisive match performances. By highlighting achievements in both La
Liga and international tournament play, Laporta positioned the teenage winger as
a player who delivered at the highest levels of competitive football.

## Campaigning for Football’s Top Individual Prize

Public lobbying by club officials is a longstanding tradition in European football
ahead of award ceremonies. Club presidents, managers, and teammates frequently use
media appearances to build momentum and influence the narrative surrounding their
star performers.

While the full scope of candidates and vote distribution remains subject to the
official adjudication of the Ballon d’Or panel, Laporta’s unequivocal backing indicates
that Barcelona is firmly aligning its public support behind the young attacker.

## Conclusion

Joan Laporta’s endorsement marks an official vote of confidence from Barcelona’s
hierarchy in Lamine Yamal’s claim to the world’s top individual football honor.
As the awards season approaches, the focus will turn to whether voters agree that
the winger’s title-winning campaign stands above the rest.
