Barau FC has received a timely squad boost with team captain Usman Maidubji returning
to active training after a period on the sidelines, according to a report by Daily
Post Nigeria. The seasoned defender had been unavailable for selection across multiple
fixtures early in the campaign due to fitness issues.

## Injury Layoff and Early-Season Absence

Maidubji’s spell out of the squad kept him away from the pitch for the majority
of the team’s early fixtures this season. According to Daily Post Nigeria, the club
captain made his last competitive appearance during a Matchday Two encounter against
Kun Khalifat FC in Owerri, a fixture that finished in a goalless draw.

Specific details regarding the exact nature or severity of the defender’s physical
complaint were not disclosed in the report. However, his fitness concerns kept him
out of action across several subsequent matchdays as the Kano-based side navigated
their early league schedule without their primary defensive anchor.

## Value to Squad Depth and Leadership

The return of the veteran defender provides Barau FC with a critical boost in both
on-field depth and locker-room leadership. As the team’s established skipper, Maidubji
carries extensive competitive experience that coaches typically rely on to stabilize
defensive lines and manage game tempo.

Having missed substantial game time, the player’s presence in regular training sessions
allows the coaching staff to assess his tactical integration and match readiness
ahead of their upcoming league commitments. The club is hoping that Maidubji will
achieve full match fitness quickly enough to enter contention for matchday squads
as they aim to improve their overall position in the league standings.

## Looking Ahead to Matchday Eight

The timing of Maidubji’s return aligns with a demanding domestic fixture. Barau
FC is scheduled to host Rangers in an upcoming Matchday Eight clash at the Sani
Abacha Stadium on Sunday. Competing on home turf, the Kano outfit faces the task
of securing points to climb the domestic table.

Whether Maidubji will be cleared to start or feature in a limited capacity against
Rangers remains dependent on how his conditioning progresses in the days leading
up to kickoff. Daily Post Nigeria noted that while the club hopes to have him available,
final selection decisions will rest on his overall fitness levels following his
prolonged absence.
