In a recent media appearance, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North,
launched a sharp critique against Rotimi Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate
for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The exchange, which took place during
an interview on TVC, centered on allegations of political inconsistency and a lack
of moral standing to criticize the current government.

## Allegations of Political Inconsistency

Senator Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State and former National Chairman
of the All Progressives Congress (APC), characterized Amaechi as a politician who
has lost his sense of direction. According to Oshiomhole, the core of the dispute
lies in Amaechi’s departure from his previously held views. Oshiomhole noted that
Amaechi, who once offered public praise for the APC and President Bola Tinubu, has
transitioned into a vocal critic of the same political apparatus he was once part
of.

“Amaechi is contradicting his past positions. He has lost direction politically,”
Oshiomhole stated during the interview. He further argued that these shifts in rhetoric
are driven by personal interest rather than a genuine concern for the state of the
nation.

## Questioning Moral Authority

Beyond the accusations of contradiction, Oshiomhole challenged Amaechi’s right to
critique the current administration. He suggested that Amaechi’s own track record—
spanning his time as a state governor and a federal minister—precludes him from
holding the moral high ground required to attack the current government’s policies.

Oshiomhole dismissed Amaechi’s recent commentary on the state of the nation as “
hypocritical” and urged the Nigerian public to view these criticisms with skepticism.
He suggested that the former minister’s current political trajectory is symptomatic
of a politician who changes positions based on where he perceives the most benefit.

## Context of the Dispute

The tension between the two political figures highlights the ongoing volatility
in Nigerian political discourse. While Oshiomhole maintains that Amaechi has lost
his political relevance, the exchange serves as a reminder of the shifting alliances
and ideological pivots common in the lead-up to electoral cycles. It is important
to note that these claims represent the perspective of Senator Oshiomhole; the Daily
Post Nigeria report does not contain a direct rebuttal or response from Rotimi Amaechi
regarding these specific allegations.

## Conclusion

The public sparring between Oshiomhole and Amaechi underscores the intense scrutiny
politicians face regarding their past records and current affiliations. As the political
landscape continues to evolve, such exchanges highlight the challenges voters face
in discerning the motivations behind shifting political loyalties. For now, the
accusations remain a point of contention between two prominent figures in the Nigerian
political arena.
