As the political landscape begins to shift toward the 2027 general elections in
Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has initiated its strategic outreach
in the northern region. Abdulaziz Yari, serving as the Director-General of the APC
Presidential Campaign Council, recently articulated a commitment to securing substantial
support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

## Campaign Strategy and Regional Focus

Speaking at the party’s presidential campaign flag-off event held in Kaduna, Yari
expressed strong confidence regarding the APC’s electoral prospects. According to
the report from _Channels Television_, Yari characterized the northern region’s
potential backing for the President as overwhelming, using the figure of “101%”
to underscore his assessment of the party’s regional standing.

The campaign’s approach, as outlined by Yari, intends to pivot away from abstract
political rhetoric and toward a focus on the tangible performance of the current
administration. By highlighting the government’s record, the campaign aims to build
a narrative of continuity and progress to resonate with northern voters.

## Engaging Traditional and Religious Leadership

A significant component of the APC’s mobilization strategy involves direct engagement
with influential community figures. Yari disclosed that the campaign council is
actively working with a coalition of stakeholders to consolidate support, specifically
mentioning:

 * Traditional rulers
 * Islamic scholars
 * Imams

The objective of these engagements is to facilitate a dialogue regarding the perceived
importance of President Tinubu’s re-election. By leveraging the influence of these
community leaders, the campaign seeks to explain the administration’s policy goals
and broader vision for the country directly to the grassroots level.

## Contextualizing the Political Landscape

While the APC has begun its formal outreach, the broader political environment remains
dynamic. The effectiveness of this strategy—relying on both administrative achievements
and the endorsement of traditional and religious leadership—will likely be tested
as other political actors finalize their own strategies for the 2027 cycle. At this
stage, specific details regarding the opposition’s counter-strategies or the full
scope of the APC’s nationwide campaign roadmap remain unavailable.

## Conclusion

The statements made by Abdulaziz Yari in Kaduna serve as an early indicator of the
APC’s prioritization of the northern vote. By emphasizing a record-based campaign
and utilizing established community networks, the party is signaling a disciplined
approach to the upcoming election. Whether this strategy will yield the anticipated
results remains a subject for future observation as the 2027 election cycle progresses.
